Summary

For 10X100, Patrick Tuttofuoco has created a sculptural group in which he portrays something intimate and personal (the subjects are his wife and son). With Michelangelo’s Rondanini Pietà as a reference, the methacrylate sculptures trigger an immediate connection with the history of art and with classical sculpture. At the same time, it gives life to a series of dualisms and dichotomies. On one hand, it respects aesthetic and formal precepts, and on the other, the use of modern, industrial technologies and materials, the introduction of colour, and a depiction of the body beyond accepted canons of representing the human anatomy create a short circuit, generated by the magic of art that transcends time and space.

Technical specifications:

3-D scanning of a ‘Pietās’ scene. Organic shaping of the geometry and decomposition of the bodies interpreted by the artist. Milling with a 7-arm pantograph. Removal of materials from blocks of transparent methacrylate interrupted by the inclusion of coloured and fluorescent slabs. Finishing and polishing of the surface by hand. Base in rough iron covered with an opaque finish.

Dimensions:

120 x 70 x h 90 cm, 140 x 70 x h 90 cm
